About Denise Hoover

I’m Denise Hoover — an author and storyteller who writes honestly about midlife, caregiving, and the life changes that don’t come with clear instructions.

Writing has always been my passion. For as long as I can remember, words have been how I process life, make sense of difficult moments, and give shape to experiences that are hard to explain out loud. Over time, that passion became a purpose: writing personal nonfiction that helps women feel seen, understood, and less alone.

My writing is rooted in real life — not in perfection or pretending everything is fine.

Why I Write

I write for women navigating midlife with questions, contradictions, and complicated emotions.

Women who love their families but sometimes feel lost inside their roles.
Women who are caregiving, recovering from loss, or adjusting to a life they didn’t plan.
Women who are quietly asking themselves, Is this really it?

My work explores caregiving, marriage after crisis, guilt, identity shifts, and the emotional weight of midlife choices — especially when the path forward isn’t clear. I believe honest words create connection, and connection helps us move through the hardest seasons of life.

Because these themes are so core to my experience, I explore them in my books and resources.

My Books & Work

I write personal nonfiction and guided reflection books for women navigating caregiving and midlife transitions.

Surviving My Husband’s Stroke grew out of my own journey as a wife and caregiver, learning how to survive — emotionally and mentally — after everything changed. It’s an honest look at marriage and identity after a life-altering medical event, and the thoughts many caregivers carry quietly but seldom share.

I also created a guided reflection resource to help caregivers process their experiences. It's called Surviving My Husband's Stroke Workbook: Reflection, Organization, and Support for Life After Your Husband’s Stroke, to help caregivers process their experiences, organize information, and reflect at their own pace — without pressure, timelines, or judgment.

Through my books and workbook, I create space for women to reflect, process, and grow during life’s most complicated seasons.

If you’ve ever thought, I should be handling this better, my writing is here for you.

You’re in the Right Place If…

You’re navigating a season of change
You’re caring for a spouse after a major medical event
You’re questioning who you are now
You want honesty — not clichés
You want to feel less alone

If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.
